We are really delighted to be able to share the accessible illustrated audio version of the book Memories of Banbury by Marjory Lester chapters 1 and 2.
How to access the audio versions.

How the video’s were created.
We were introduced this wonderful book by Marjory’s daughter who is a Banbury Heritage Project participant, the idea to create an accessible audio version came about because members of the group were unable to read it due to sight loss.
We worked with colleagues from Banbury Museum, an audio describer, a photographer and volunteers to create the audio version of the book with audio described illustrations (full credits in the audio book).
Special thanks…
We would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and support and with a special thank you to Marjory Lester’s family for granting us permission to share the book and make it accessible to a wider audience.
This important work has all been made possible due to generous funding from Historic England, who accepted a printed copy of the book into their archive library when the Banbury History Project group visited Historic England HQ in Swindon in August 2024.
We would like to continue with the accessible audio book project and create an audio version of the entire book in the future but for now chapters 1 and 2 can be enjoyed individually as a standalone snapshot of Banbury history.
We hope you enjoy it, please share it with your friends and contacts.
