Place-based models are nothing new, but the frameworks that are being developed are moving at pace, in every sector. Whether the focus is on areas of deprivation, low engagement, poor health outcomes, or high streets, the ideology is similar, but there are questions of compatibility:
- How does a place retain its identity amongst multiple place-based agendas?
- Who are the changemakers and where is the power in these communities?
- When you look through the lens of deficit, will you ever find the assets?
These are conceptual questions, but if place-based projects claim to make a place, then they are important ones. Creativity needs to be at the heart of this agenda, but who defines it, what role does it play… and crucially who gets to choose what positive change looks like and how are they represented?

Throughout the life of the project we have been working with partners who are focused on place-based delivery. One example of this is Ageing Better
