The following library of resources was developed throughout the life of the Creative Ageing Communities Project and includes a mix of content produced by the team, developed wider partners, or generally influenced the direction of the overall project. The library is listed alphabetically, rather than by theme, because many of the resources were developed and used fluidly across the life of the project.

Age Friendly Standards were developed with a wide range of creative cultural partners, including the Age UK Oxon Creative Team. AUKO were shortlisted for an award in 2022.

‘Age of Creativity Festival 2023, Celebrating Our Stories Report’ is a snapshot of the impact this annual festival had when it was co-designed with the Creative Ageing Network (CAN).

A-Z of Inspiration for a Creative Later Life was co-created by the Creative Ageing Network (CAN) in 2022-3, and shared as part of the Age of Creativity Festival 2023

Celebrating Age was an investment programme by ACE and Baring Foundation and this report was produced in January 2023. The Age UK Oxon Team were part of this project.

Celebrating Our Stories’ was a blog written in 2023 by Farrell Renowden, reflecting on the co-creation process that was taken for the Age of Creativity Festival in 2023.

Connecting Through Culture As We Age was a project led by Bristol University between 2020-24. The Age UK Oxon Creative Team supported as Strategic Partners.

Creative Ageing Network (CAN) Terms of Reference 2023, was co-created by the lived experience led network formed during this project.

Creative and Cultural Activities and Wellbeing in Later Life research was co-written by the Age UK Policy and Research Department and Farrell Renowden, at Age UK Oxfordshire.

‘Creativity: Fulfilling the Promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons’ explores the role of older people’s day. Written by Farrell Renowden in 2023.

Creative Health Quality Framework produced by Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance has inspired our approach. We supported development as a member of the Strategic Group.

Creative Later Life 2019-2025 was written in 2021, and presents the context for the entire project, including relevant data, and theory of change model.

Creative Later Life Platform, is a short reflection written by Creative Lives, a key partner in this project. Sharing progress made, it documents one of the key strands of this project.

Creative Later Life Storytelling Project: the stories were written by Farrell Renowden in 2023, and it documents the storytelling methodology used to share lived experience.

Creative Later Life Reporting is an extended reflection of the development of the Creative Ageing Evaluation Framework, written by Supersum in June 2024.

Creativity comes to us at different times, but always the right time’ was written in 2022, by Farrell Renowden, and explores the idea of value from the perspective of older people.

‘Fairytales’ is a co-created project by the Creative Ageing Network which was started in early 2024 and will feature here soon.

‘Framework for Age Friendly Business’ is a resource that includes the cultural sector. The Age UK Oxon Team supported the development in 2023 and it will feature here soon.

‘Freedom Within A Framework’ was written in October 2022, by Farrell Renowden, and it stands as key milestone in the development of the Creative Ageing Network (CAN).

How Lived Experience Inspired an A-Z’, is a blog written by Helen Fountain in May 2023, detailing the development of work created by the Creative Ageing Network (CAN).

Impact of Covid-19 on older people’s mental and physical health: one year on was produced by Age UK and is based on a data set from 2021, detailing long term impacts of lockdown.

Index of Wellbeing in Later Life was published by Age UK’s Research Team in 2017, and quickly became a cornerstone of the Creative Ageing movement.

Inspiration Pack for Partnerships between Age and Cultural Sectors is a practical guide co-written by Mervyn Kohler at Age UK and Farrell Renowden at Age UK Oxfordshire in 2020.

Making Place or Place-Making Event 19.5.22 is a recording of an online event developed I partnership with Keele University and a number of other key partners in this field.

Social prescribing for older people in the time of COVID drawing on the cultural sector was a research project in 2021. The Age UK Oxon Team were on the expert panel of support. 

Stories of Inspiration is a platform for older people who connected to creativity in later life to share their story. These stories have been featured in various publications.

Storytelling Storyboard is a visual depiction of the key themes and reflections shared as part of the storytelling project developed between 2023-24.

‘Storytelling Questions’ provides an overview of the questions we used as part of the Storytelling project in 2023. Each story collector used is as a guide.

‘The Power of Stories’ is a short blog by Farrell Renowden, written in May 2023, documenting the very beginning of the storytelling journey within this project.

‘What Next Report’ was a series of essays written by leaders in the field of Creative Ageing in 2023. Farrell Renowden wrote the essay What next for creative ageing and the age sector?

‘Why am I still making the case to the age sector about the value of creativity?’ is a straight-talking blog by Farrell Renowden, which reflects on the reality of the challenges in 2023.

Wise Connections was a project funded by Zinc in 2022 aimed at increasing socio-cultural interactions in older communities. Age UK Oxon was a strategic partner in this research.
